The Graduate Research Depot.com is your one-stop source for the best selection, discounts, reviews and up to date information on everything you need to do quality academic field work, particularly in the social and behavioral sciences.
The idea for this site came from the frustration in locating reasonably-priced hard to find equipment for field work and data analysis (e.g. you can’t just go out and grab a microcassette transcriber with a foot pedal any old time you feel like it. For one, you’ll be limited by choice and price. Online, however, is a different story though you still have to do a lot of digging to find out what is the best quality, or the ideal equipment to use for specific situations.)
All of that time-consuming tedium takes time away from the important work we are passionate about and actually need to focus on and, after talking to a group of like minded graduate students in planning, education, political science, psychology, geography and public health, this site was born!
So, what can you do on this site? If you know exactly what supplies, equipment or software you need, go shopping! If you have a price and want to see if you can do better, check out our discounts and coupons from top name brands and retailers. If you want to know more about the materials you are planning to purchase, check out what others are saying. Or, maybe you are finished with your research (God bless you!) and want to sell or donate your items? Even better, share your hard-earned knowledge or seek tips from peers and academic professionals in our forums.
We also have a growing database of articles with helpful advice and resources (much of it free!) for carrying out research in all kinds of settings, from urban to rural, domestic to international, and natural or man-made environments.
